Advocating Opportunity (AO)

Advocating Opportunity (AO) provides direct holistic legal services, support, and advocacy for trafficked and exploited persons based on a trauma-responsive, legal, and human rights-based framework. 

Providing direct legal services through on-staff attorneys and social support through legal advocates provides support to clients who want to use their voice in the judicial system, and in their community, by levelling the playing field and creating an opportunity to choose their life’s course on their own terms.

AO works to end human trafficking and labour exploitation by addressing the root causes of systemic vulnerabilities which significantly contribute to human trafficking in marginalised communities, in particular. This work is achieved thorough both individual advocacy and policy initiatives to eliminate racism, oppression, poverty, and to dismantle other systemic issues which vulnerabilities in our clients.
